German Language Course

Germany is the world's second-largest exporter. Germany is home to numerous international corporations. Direct investment by Germany in the United States is over ten billion dollars. German is widely studied as a foreign language and is one of the main cultural languages of the Western world. Though the majority of German speakers reside within Germany, German is the official language of four other countries: Switzerland, Austria, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein. It's also spoken in some parts of Northern Italy, as well as in the French provinces of Alsace and Lorraine.

German is famous for its extensive use of long words. So long that the longest German word is now obsolete: Rindfleischetikettierungsu berwachungsaufgabenu bertragungsgesetz, meaning the law concerning the delegation of duties for the supervision of cattle marking and the labeling of beef, has been deemed too unpractical for bureaucrats

Why German Language?

  1. German has the largest number of native speakers in the European Union (far more than English, Spanish, or French).
  2. Some of the bizzare German proverbs are Alles hat ein Ende, nur die Wurst hat zwei (everything has an end, only sausage has two), Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof (I only understand train station) whose English counterpart would be 'It's all Greek to me' and the most delightful saying, Das ist nicht dein Bier! (that is not your beer!) which means 'none of your business!'
  3. Germans are world leaders in engineering
  4. German is the second most commonly used scientific language in the world
  5. German has often been referred to as the language of the Dichter und Denker or auhor of the epic Faustis considered one of Germany's greatest national treasures. Other notable Teutonic thinkers are Kant, Marx, Humboldt and Nietzsche.
